The Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Medicine is a provincial key laboratory established by Nanjing Medical University with significant support from the provincial government in December 2016. This laboratory is affiliated with the National Key Disciplines of Pharmacology, the National Key (Cultivation) Discipline of Pathophysiology, the Jiangsu Provincial Key Disciplines of Basic Medicine, and the Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline of Pharmacy at Nanjing Medical University's School of Pharmacy.
Through systematic development, the Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Medicine aims to contribute to talent cultivation by fostering research professionals with expertise in pharmaceutical science and practical skills. In terms of scientific research, the laboratory undertakes major national research projects, achieving landmark results with international impact. In the realm of social service, the laboratory actively promotes the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, strives to enhance the level of new drug development, and serves the development of the national pharmaceutical industry. This collective effort is intended to establish a first-class discipline with influence at both the national and international levels.
Research Directions: The laboratory integrates multiple disciplines in medicine and pharmacy, including research on cardiovascular disease drugs, cerebrovascular disease drugs, stem cells and neuroregeneration, new drug technologies, and clinical pharmacy. These areas span pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, clinical pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary fields. The laboratory combines basic research with clinical application and collaborates with pharmaceutical enterprises to realize the development and transformation of novel cardiovascular and cerebrovascular drugs.
Research Team's Project Undertakings and Achievements: The current research team consists of 49 personnel, including 19 with senior professional titles, 13 with associate senior titles, and 16 with intermediate titles. The team includes individuals recognized as national-level talents in the National People's Ten Thousand Program, outstanding young experts with significant contributions to the nation, recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, leaders of the "333" Project for young and middle-aged talents in Jiangsu Province, high-level talents in Jiangsu Province's six major talent peak programs, recipients of the Jiangsu Province Distinguished Youth Fund, double-creation talents in Jiangsu Province, specially-appointed professors, medical experts, and individuals selected for the "Blue Project" in Jiangsu Province.
In recent years, the team has undertaken more than 70 provincial and ministerial-level research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Innovative Research Group Project, the Ministry of Science and Technology National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Project, key international (regional) cooperative research projects, major research plan key projects, and outstanding youth funds. The team has published multiple high level papers in international professional academic journals such as Circulation, Nature Medicine, Neuron, Circulation Research, Hepatology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Nature Communication, Molecular Psychiatry, and holds 42 authorized invention patents. The team has received awards such as the First Prize of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Scientific Research Achievements Award (Natural Science Award), two First Prizes of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award, and two Second Prizes of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award.
